St. Anthony Church Sakinaka - Family Day 2016

Hebrews 10:24-25

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near”.

The Parish family day was celebrated on January 31, 2016 on the school grounds. The registration counters opened well before 4.00pm and the participants were divided equally in 10 groups and all those wh o reported on time were treated with sandwiches (Incentive for coming on time).

Charlie and his angels ( Sophia, Priscila & Patsy) were the hosts for the evening and were fantastic right through the event. The program began with a welcome song put up by our Choir Master – Abel and his team followed by the welcome dance choreographed by Geeta. It was now time for the families to warm up at the ice breaker session.

They all let themselves loose with the penguin dance following the leaders on the stage i.e Fr. Cajetan & Fr. Julius.

The Parish Fathers and Sisters inaugurated the program in the traditional way with the lighting of lamp and the PPC members releasing the Balloons with the family day scroll up in the sky.

The Youth Band consisting of Devina, Ronson, Romell & Floyd entertained the crowd with some old Bollywood numbers and with their melodious singing. There was a dance as well put up by the youth group.

Roshan and his band of youth animators did an awesome job organizing the games which saw the young and the old participate enthusiastically.

There was an amazing dance performance by the youth group choreographed by the talented Jason and assisted by Alvisa and the audience were spellbound by this wonderful professional dance show. It was a treat for all to watch.

The Auction had a Gift hamper & Designer Cake prepared by Iris which went for a price of Rs.8500/=. Charlie the housie master kept the audience engrossed with his humor. There were plenty of spot prizes for the taking, over the long evening including the luck dip.

We had the pleasure of having Fr. Lancy Pinto & Fr. Savio D’souza as our special guest. Both of whom have worked in our parish in the past.

The canteen had snacks and beverages to suit all taste buds and was well catered by Effy, Rosy, Neelima, Cynthia, Gregory and others.

The most anticipated event for the evening was the “Rock Band” with Fr. Alban as the Lead guitarist, Melody on the Keyboard, Johnson on the Base guitar and Brian on the Drums. They had the entire crowd on the dance floor with people wanting more but for time which was against them. It was one of those evenings when the young just did not want to leave the dancing floor.
